As of May 2022, The City of Edmonton’s Public Tree Bylaw 18825 mandates a Tree Permit is required whenever work is planned within 5 meters of any City tree or within 10 meters of a Natural Stand. This includes excavation, grade changes, and temporary site access.

Failure to secure this permit or failing to adhere to proper protection measures can result in immediate Stop Work Orders and daily fines.
